In this project we carried out a complete reform of the space prior to the interior design project. It was about renovating the apartment respecting the essence of the building, which has a Mediterranean architecture and was built in 1968, the golden age of Marbella.
The “Los Portales” building is a landmark in this city, and we have a special affection for it since our studio is located on the floor facing the street, towards Avenida Ricardo Soriano.
We wanted to provoke the sensation of connection by using the same materials in different elements of the house. For example, open pore white oak is present in the kitchen fronts, in the interior doors, in the cabinet fronts and in the bedroom headboard. Natural stone floor in a sand tone, honed, and the same material in a different format has been used for the bathroom shower area.
In the same way, the color palette used unites the different areas of the house. The predominant colors are aqua blue, tile and earth tones.
As a curiosity, we have kept the old lamp rosette in the bedroom as a decorative element (unused), complementing it with a backlit perimeter molding.
We have really enjoyed carrying out this project, since this space has been our studio in Marbella for 20 years.
