ALHAMBRA DEL MAR

DUPLEX IN GOLDEN MILE, MARBELLA

This residence is located in one of the most exclusive developments on Marbella’s Golden Mile, an exceptional setting defined by its architecture and a spectacular landscaped garden. Majestic palm trees, Mediterranean pines and centuries-old olive trees coexist with water as one of the key elements of the environment. Fountains, artificial lakes, streams and swimming pools create a unique landscape just a few metres from the sea, which became a fundamental reference when developing the complete renovation and interior design project for this duplex. One of the client’s main requirements was to bring the fresh Mediterranean architecture of the exterior into the interior of the home, creating a natural and seamless connection between both worlds.

The main challenge of the project was to achieve a more spacious, organised and light-filled interior through a new layout. Opening the kitchen to the living area was a key decision, allowing the spaces to flow naturally and reinforcing the relationship with the garden, so that interior and exterior are perceived as a single, continuous environment. The aim was to flood the home with natural light and recover its Mediterranean essence, creating open, fluid and inviting spaces.

The interior design is based on a clear Mediterranean inspiration, with a strong commitment to natural materials, warm woods and organic textures. Limestone, linen and cotton were selected to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, warm and full of light. As the owners live in a country with very little sunlight, enhancing natural light was especially important, seeking to recreate the freshness of the sea, the warmth of the Mediterranean and a relaxed, easygoing lifestyle.

The colour palette is composed of natural tones combined with soft pastels and earthy hues. Colours are used in a balanced way, establishing harmony between the different shades and the predominant natural light throughout the home, with the aim of creating a constant sense of calm and wellbeing.

In terms of materials and finishes, flooring with a natural aesthetic was chosen, combining porcelain surfaces with noble woods in white and natural tones. Decorative accessories were carefully selected to respect this same sense of naturalness, avoiding visual overload and allowing the spaces to breathe while maintaining a serene and luminous character.
