We transformed the premises that had been our Málaga showroom for more than 30 years into three one-bedroom apartments for rental. This renovation and interior design project represents a complete change of use, where architectural solutions and interior design criteria were combined to create functional and bright homes. 

The apartments are located in La Malagueta, one of the most sought-after residential areas in Málaga, just a few minutes’ walk from the historic centre and only 100 metres from the sea. A privileged location that defines the character of the project and reinforces its connection to light, climate and the Mediterranean lifestyle. 

The main objective of the project was to maximise the available space and enhance the sense of openness in homes of reduced dimensions. To achieve this, we developed an optimised layout, making the most of ceiling height and natural light ,key elements in our residential interior design projects. 

Each apartment was designed with its own identity, based on a distinct colour palette, blue, terracotta and green, and a contemporary language inspired by Mediterranean living. The use of colour became a strategic tool to define each home and bring personality while maintaining overall harmony. 

One of the most distinctive features of the project was the kitchen design. Unlike in other homes, where we often aim to integrate or visually soften the kitchen when it is open to the living area, in these apartments we chose to give it a leading role as a central element of the space, incorporating colourful cabinetry and ceramic tiles with an artisanal inspiration on the splashbacks. 

During the renovation process, we preserved and integrated some existing elements from the former showroom. These include the blue palm-pattern wallpaper in apartment 1, as well as the exposed brick wall and the Pianca walk-in wardrobe in apartment 2,  features that had been part of our display for years and that are now naturally integrated into the new residential use. 

This project also allowed us to test construction solutions and materials that we later apply in our clients’ interior design projects. One example is the use of porcelain flooring laid in a herringbone pattern in two of the bathrooms, a solution that adds texture, movement and visual warmth, and that works particularly well in contemporary urban homes. 

The result of this renovation and interior design project in La Malagueta is a set of three functional and comfortable apartments, where every decision responds to a clear strategy of space optimisation, material quality and aesthetic coherence. Homes designed to enjoy Málaga, its light and its proximity to the sea.
