Before the reform that we undertook in the whole house, the kitchen was in the back, as in most houses of that time, considering that it is a house from 1922.
In the new layout, and together with the KOKKEN kitchen studio, we designed a kitchen that is open to the dining room and living room, but with mobile partition-type sliding doors that can be closed if necessary to prevent noise and odours, and that when they are open they integrate with the wall, which was painted in the same sand colour. In this way, the kitchen enjoys a visual connection to the dining room, the living room and the view from the living room to the wonderful French-style building called "El Palacio de la Tinta".
For the kitchen we chose white doors without handles but with a subtle frame, and with a porcelain countertop from the firm Neolith, and the appliances have been paneled so that their view is more aesthetic from the living room. In addition, it has the same Nolla mosaic floor in the dining room and living room, although with a different design, which makes it more decorative.
The kitchen island brings functionality to the kitchen, with large drawers for storage and with the same Neolith countertop that extends as a bar for breakfast or any other meal of the day, and original large lamps made of delicate braided rattan.
The window overlooks an interior patio with light, which adds clarity to the kitchen, although being open to the living room and being very bright thanks to the large windows, it has abundant natural light from early in the morning.
The result is a practical and functional kitchen, with a contemporary design but with an elegant and timeless cut, which fits perfectly with the design of the rest of the rooms in the house with which it communicates.
