Reding41: Introduction

The project

What we had with this house from 1922 was love at first sight, and facing its reform and subsequent interior design project is being a journey through the senses for us, and that is why we will tell you about the whole process until its completion .

In deep

The 210 m2 apartment is located in one of the two housing blocks called “Las Casas de Félix Sáenz”, two properties composed of a ground floor plus three floors, in which the facades are articulated with entrances and projections that are covered with slopes of different heights, originating pavilions of flown eaves, terraces, gazebos and glazing. All of this provides buildings of great chromatic richness, accentuated in the early hours of the morning and mid-afternoon. The decoration of the building is composed of neo-Mudejar and neo-Renaissance elements, according to the taste of the time in which it was built. The use of various materials for its construction stands out, such as brick, ceramic, marble and stone, as well as the use of railings on the balconies and the lavish decoration of the façade.

They are considered one of the emblematic buildings of Malaga, work of the famous architect, academic and Mayor Fernando Guerrero Strachan (1879-1930). They received their name in memory of the merchant who ordered them to be built with the intention of using them for rent.

Its location could not be better, on the famous Paseo de Reding, in front of the old “Palacio de la Tinta”, an exquisite building with French influence, which gives you the feeling that you are in the romantic city of Paris when you are looking out of its balconies. The beginning of Paseo del Parque is just a five-minute walk away, and ends at Calle Larios, the main street in the center of Malaga.

If its architecture, its history, the height of its ceilings, its views and location impressed us, what really made us fall in love with this house were its Nolla mosaic floors, which we will talk about in the next post.
